WORKPLACE DISCRIMINATION?

Image
Wait, Discrimination Again?  The issue of discrimination and racism has been around for decades, and it would seem  that it has no intent on leaving. With the civil rights act of 1964, taking place in 1964, who  would think that here in 2020 we would be writing a paper on discrimination in the  workplace. Great men went through great measures to implement this act and yet, some  would say it has done nothing. The Financial Services Institute seems to lack diversity in its  climate, why can’t we all just get along, should we make accommodations, and what’s the  solution to working environments lacking diversity.  First, let’s look at the facts of the Financial Service Institutes. According to Management  9e, “Women represent approximately 29% of senior managers, Asians for 8%, and African  Americans 6% (Kinicki).” Wait so, if we’re all good at math, that means white males are  taking up 57%, yes correc...

"END TIMES PANDEMIC OR TEST?"

Image
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA. MARCH 21, 2020 We and our children will never forget the Year 2020, between March and July.  The media spread madness and chaos about a disease that was taking out the world. Meanwhile, I sat in a bible study with a room full of people and asked 3 simple questions, 1st question -  "do you know anyone who has died of Corona Virus? The answer was "NO".  2nd question - Do you know anyone in the hospital with Corona Virus. The answer was "NO".  The 3rd question - Do you know anyone that has even contracted Corona Virus, the answer was "NO". So then why are we hunkered down in this house, having bible study when we should be in our Church Building?  The picture posted above was taken a mere 3 days ago.  The Beaches are full in California, the Beaches are full in Florida but the churches are shut down?  Why...

DREW BREES SUFFERS BACKLASH FOR FOCUS ON THE FAMILY COMMERCIAL

Image
“Bring your Bible to School Day” has been taking place every year since 2014 and asks students to “celebrate religious freedom and share God’s love with their friends.” In a promotional video posted by Focus on The Family, Drew Brees encourages students to participate in the Oct. 3, 2019 event. “Hey guys,” Brees says in the video, “one of my favorite verses in the bible is 2 Corinthians 5:7 , “for we live by faith, not by sight.” “So I want to encourage you to live out your faith on ‘bring your bible to school day’ and share God’s love with friends,” Brees adds. “You’re not alone.”      But some are criticizing the quarterback for partnering with Focus on The Family, which advocates for traditional marriage, according to CBN news . Newsweek wrote an article titled: “Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints quarterback, records video produced by anti-gay group Focus on The Family.” Out magazine published one titled, “NFL quarterback appears in commercial for anti-gay extremi...

BELOVED PASTOR, MENTAL HEALTH ADVOCATE, TAKES HIS OWN LIFE

Image
Beloved Pastor, Mental Health Advocate Tragically Takes His Own Life In recent news headlines we have read of the tragedy  that has shocked the Christian World.  Jarrid was the assistant Pastor at Harvest Christian Fellowship Church and mental health advocate, founder of Anthem of Hope. I believe Christians all over America are reading to find out, what the Christian Leaders have to say about this. What a touchy subject, what a twist of irony, for sure. Some of the press releases have been,   “He’s in a much better place, all the pain has ended, no more suffering”.   Other Christian leaders are now stating, “we are not responsible for our actions in those last moments of our lives”.   While the church has historically been the “sound of reason” when it comes to suicide, it is scary to read, what the pundits are saying, when one of our own commits suicide. Once Christians and the church jump o...

COLLEGE ADMISSIONS SCANDAL-LIVING IN SHADES OF GREY

Image
At my first glance and reading, I thought, as many, interesting….then the 2 nd day another article, then the 3 rd day another article and then I thought “what’s the deal, why won’t this story go away?” What this whole scandal has brought back to the surface is really an age old question or debate… “Is there really such a thing as a definitive sense of right from wrong? Or does it depend on the situation?   God is faithful, throughout His Word to deal with us, about our constant conflict   of what we think of ourselves and our actions as opposed to how He sees us. Prov 20:6 most men will proclaim everyone his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find? What’s moral & what’s immoral & when have we crossed that line? A few questions to ask: 1.       What would you do for your kids? 2.       What would you do for a family member? 3.       What laws are breakable 4. ...

ARE HALLMARK CHRISTMAS MOVIES; ACTUALLY CHRISTMAS MOVIES?

Image
ARE HALLMARK MOVIES, REALLY CHRISTMAS MOVIES?   That's a really good question to ask!  Recently on my blog " One Year Bible Club " I've been solicited plenty by Google adds with the Hallmark Socks. The Ad shows a pair of feet wearing socks with the feet sticking out towards you and you can read on the bottom of the socks, "If you can read this, leave me alone, I'm watching Hallmark Movies".  Nobody has more of a slew of Christmas Movies than Hallmark.  But are they really Christmas Movies?  If you watch any number of them, as the Movie illustrated in the picture above [case & point!] you will find that Hallmark Christmas Movies are really nothing more than Love Stories, featured, around the Christmas season. The theme is nowhere near any theme of Christ, salvation or Jesus birth.  It's simply a Love Story, or some like to call them "chick flicks" or "romantic comedies" and if you're not single and falling in lo...

IS GOD INTO THE NFL???

Image
There’s a new book that has come out written by Rob Maaddi , The name of the book: Birds of Pray: The Story of the Philadelphia Eagles’ Faith, Brotherhood, and Super Bowl Victory It chronicles the exploits of the Philedelphia Eagles and their quest for the Super bowl in 2017-2018 Season. The annals of football are filled with “God squads,” teams with widely publicized reputations for Christian faith. As far back as the 1890s, Yale football enthusiasts attributed the team’s success to the number of “praying men” on the squad. The undefeated 1954 UCLA team, with over half the starting lineup involved with Campus Crusade for Christ, was nicknamed the “Eleven from Heaven.” And professional football has had plenty of teams with strong Christian contingents, too: - the Baltimore Colts of the late 1960s, - the Miami Dolphins of the early 1970s, - the Washington Redskins of the 1980s and early 1990s, - the St. Louis Rams 1999, - and the Seattle Seahawks circa 201...
