DREW BREES SUFFERS BACKLASH FOR FOCUS ON THE FAMILY COMMERCIAL
“Bring your Bible to School Day” has been taking place every year since 2014 and asks students to “celebrate religious freedom and share God’s love with their friends.”
In a promotional video posted by Focus on The Family, Drew Brees encourages students to participate in the Oct. 3, 2019 event. “Hey guys,” Brees says in the video, “one of my favorite verses in the bible is 2 Corinthians 5:7, “for we live by faith, not by sight.” “So I want to encourage you to live out your faith on ‘bring your bible to school day’ and share God’s love with friends,” Brees adds. “You’re not alone.”
But some are criticizing the quarterback for partnering with Focus on The Family, which advocates for traditional marriage, according to CBN news. Newsweek wrote an article titled: “Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints quarterback, records video produced by anti-gay group Focus on The Family.” Out magazine published one titled, “NFL quarterback appears in commercial for anti-gay extremists,” and Big Easy Magazine wrote, “Drew Brees records video for anti-LGBT religious organization.” Drew Brees quickly defended himself: “there’s been a lot of negativity spread about me in the LGBT community recently based upon an article that someone wrote with a very negative headline that I think led people to believe that somehow I was aligned with an organization that was anti-LGBT and so on and so forth,” Brees said in the video. “I’d like to set the record straight. ... “I do not support any groups that discriminate or that have their own agendas that are trying to promote inequality. … That’s not what I stand for.”
Later in the day, Brees told
reporters in an apparent reference to Focus on The Family: “I was not aware of any of the things they said
about them lobbying for anti-gay-type of messaging or inequality or any type of
hate-related stuff. I was not aware of that at all. And again, the video itself
was just focused on national bring your bible to school day. It was not
promoting any group, certainly not promoting any group that is associated with
that type of behavior.”
He said he was not aware of the group’s
anti-LGBT views. He says hate goes against everything being a Christian is all
about.
Well, that promo to support bring your bible to school day failed. Instead of Drew Brees supporting “bring your bibles to school” He went on to say more about his support of the LGBT community. I guess you don’t know who (Drew Brees) you’re dealing with until you deal with them.

There is an immense pressure on
individuals, especially those that are celebrities, sports figures, politicians
to all march to the beat of the same drum. And speak all the same talking
points; if you step out of line, you will surely get wacked down, as Drew Brees
quickly learned… “You’re playing with the big boys now!”
In Isaiah Chapter 40 God speaking through
the prophet Isaiah says, “do they not say, or ask themselves, is not this thing
in my right hand a lie?” God is amazed (or maybe not) a human’s propensity to
live a lie, to live in a self-deluded state of mind. What valid reason does any
genuine Christian have to exercise any tolerance towards “a lie?” Well, it comes from
the pressure of those that live that lie and there are many and their threat to
destroy you. If you have a career , they’ll ruin you. If you’re running for
office, they’ll make sure you don’t get voted in. And of course poor little Drew
Brees couldn’t handle the fire. He
wanted to do a cute little commercial for kids and little did he know he
stepped into a spiritual war zone, he got emotionally hurt and so he back
pedaled, supported LGBT instead of supporting his Christian Faith and
ironically went on to get physically hurt in a Football game, right after. Trying
to live out your Christian Faith in this currently ultra, sensitive, politically
correct, charged atmosphere is a precarious venture.
Drew Brees is quoted as saying, “I do not support any groups that discriminate or that have their own agendas that are trying to promote inequality. … That’s not what I stand for.” “I do not support any groups that discriminate” yet he is a Christian doing a Commercial for the Bible, which is full of discrimination? I do not understand this man’s logic. Little does Drew Brees know that the head of his religion (Jesus in case he’s not sure of that either) is very discriminatory and one of the groups he is most discriminatory against is the LGBT Community. Dare we say, “The Emperor has no clothes!!!” Do your research, what was the reason of the one time in History, that God destroyed all the people on the face of the earth, with a flood, was it not “sexual perversion”. And God promised never to do that again, and sealed that promise with the sign of the Rainbow. I find it very interesting that the LGBT Community has hi-jacked the Rainbow as their Logo. The very logo, sign, God used as a reminder of what He did to those so filled with every manner of perversion.
Acts 4:12 “There is no other name given amongst men, whereby we must be saved, but the name of Jesus Christ.” That is pretty discriminatory against, many, many other Faiths and Spiritual gods in The World. Jesus said, “I am The Door” no man comes to the Father EXCEPT through me. Jesus also said, “For wide is the road, but narrow is the one…” That’s pretty narrow minded way of thinking Lord. A man from India may transfer here to the United Sates and begin to discuss with me Hinduism and the 33 million gods they serve. Am I supposed to stand there, nod, shake my head as if this is “not a lie” ?? We can squirm around the issue, we can try to be fake, tolerant or politically correct but at the end of the day, what we are supporting is A LIE! “Do they not know, that what they hold is a Lie”, asks The Lord.
LGBT is a lie – it’s not something to except. Romans 1:28 “And because they thought it was worthless to acknowledge God, God allowed their own immoral minds to control them. So they do these indecent things.” Romans 1:24 “So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.” Never more, is the genius of this short tale by Hans Anderson, more relevant than in the days and times we live in today. Everybody is supposed to march to the beat of the same drum and completely play dumb or ignorant or both, to the fact that the days and times we are living, “they are a changing” And ironically the tale lives true, the Emperor and many others are running around with no clothes on (figuratively and literally) and dare you, if you speak out. We will smack you down. We will ruin you. We will destroy you. And quite frankly, sometimes they do. And sometimes, those that we enlist to speak for our cause, once faced with the outbreak of opposition that comes so fiercely against them, back pedal and begin to support the very causes that oppose the one true Faith and belief, we were enlisted to support, ie: Drew Brees.
